New garage doors in Scunthorpe

What it costs

Checkatrade's published Scunthorpe figures put garage door installation at £1,250 on average, typically from £920 up to £1,700^[1].

Checkatrade says manual steel up-and-over doors tend to be the most affordable^[1]. Ask what material, gauge and finish the quote is for, because that is where like-for-like prices differ.

Roller, up-and-over or sectional?

Checkatrade says roller garage doors suit short driveways and small spaces, insulate better and are easy to automate, while up-and-over doors are more budget friendly and come in a range of materials^[1].

Checkatrade suggests insulated sectional or roller doors if you want to keep the garage warmer or cut outside noise, which helps most when the garage is attached to the house or used as a workspace^[1].

What the quote should include

Checkatrade lists what a garage door quote typically includes: the door itself, fittings and frame, removal of the old door, and basic site preparation and installation, with automation, remote openers or side doors as optional extras^[1].

How long it takes

Checkatrade says most standard garage door installations take between 4 and 6 hours, and electric or made-to-measure doors may take longer because of wiring and set-up^[1].

Checkatrade says garage doors are usually fitted within a day, but made-to-measure or electric doors may take longer, so it's worth asking about lead times when you get quotes^[1].

Repair or replace?

Checkatrade suggests it may be time to replace a garage door if it is over 15 years old, regularly jams, has visible rust, cracks or rot, or its parts are no longer available^[1]. Ask the firm to tell you what has failed before they quote for a new door.
